in the production process of the long march 3b rocket engine injector frame, there are several small deep shafts with a diameter of 3.5 mm and a tolerance of 0.008 mm, whose accuracy is equivalent to one-tenth of a hair. since this level of dimension could not be measured on the machine tool, the processing pass rate was only 20% during the preliminary production.

"if the components are not qualified, we can't deliver on time. the hard part is that we have never had experience of processing parts at this level. what we can do is try again and again." after half a month of research, he xiaohu found a breakthrough from previous failures.

he xiaohu found that the previous processing failure was mainly due to temperature changes, and after several trials, it was concluded that 2 and 3 p.m. are most suitable time with optimal machine tool temperature.

he xiaohu mastered the ideal processing time of the machine tool for precision machining. once this method was applied, the component pass rate reached 100%. this method solved the production bottleneck that restricted the factory for more than ten years and achieved the company's annual cost saving of nearly 1 million yuan.

for 12 years, he xiaohu has been solving all kinds of technical problems and devoting himself to boosting the country's strength in space. "my work is simply around machining parts, but i take it as my greatest honor. over the years, although i have won awards for myself, these honors actually belong to all my peers in aerospace."
